Excavation and site work across Tucson
Tucson is our home base. Our office is at 430 N. Eastview Ave. on the east side, and our crews work everywhere from the urban core to the desert edges of the city: midtown infill lots, east side and northwest side neighborhoods, the south side industrial corridors, and the new construction pushing out along the city limits.
What Tucson projects look like
Tucson is a mix of very different site conditions inside one city:
- Infill and remodel lots in established neighborhoods, where access is tight, neighboring structures are close, and existing utilities have to be located and protected. Pool excavation, additions and drainage regrading are common here.
- New construction on larger lots toward the city edges, where clearing, pads, utility trenching and often septic systems are part of getting a home built.
- Commercial and industrial sites along the major corridors and near the interstate, where mass grading, building pads, detention basins and construction access are the typical scope.
- Hillside and rocky ground on the north and east edges where the city meets the mountains, where caliche and rock change the equipment and the schedule.
Soils, caliche and monsoons
Much of Tucson sits on alluvial soil with caliche layers that can be inches or feet thick, and the summer monsoon delivers most of the year’s rain in a few intense storms. Both shape how we plan a job. We size equipment for the digging conditions and grade sites so stormwater moves away from structures and toward an approved outlet.
Permits and jurisdictions
Projects inside the city are permitted through the City of Tucson; many addresses with a Tucson mailing address are actually in unincorporated Pima County and go through the county instead. This matters for grading, septic and native plant requirements. We work from whichever plan is approved and can tell you which jurisdiction a parcel falls under if you are unsure.
